MID CENTURY MODERN DESK APOTHECARY 3 LEG EAMES ERA UNIQUE HAND MADE 1 OF A KIND!
Up for sale is this tremendously complex and artistic work by now deceased artist Brian Chinneck. Chinneck was born in Nairobi Kenya in 1953. He has lived various places during his life but died while he was in San Diego, California. When I first set eyes on the work I thought of space age or spider-like. He's not around to ask unfortunately. The cabinet is so complex that to undertake this ambitious undertaking would seem daunting to the average person, even a fellow artist. It is all done by dovetail, mortise and through tennions, and butterfly joints. The drawers are each tailored for the specific space and the boxes are all numbered to keep them straight. There are 16 drawers plus a longer one in the middle which houses a spare drawer. The width is 48", the height at the highest point is 42" and the depth is 13" to 18", the drawer section actually comes out of the body to make the variation. The drawer section which comes out is 24" wide. The arc/spider legs are 38" tall. Picture no.10 is rotated a bit. It is of the back side. This would have to be local pick up only. I live in the San Diego, California area. It is very sturdy and impeccably crafted. Questions or more images? 619 244-5626 I have a zip file full of 47 images I can email to you if you would like to see them. If you text your email address to the # above I will send the file to you. Introduction Born and raised in Kenya East Africa, he traveled a great deal and ended up in England at St. Mary's College, Twickenham, Strawberry hill. Hung around Europe for a while then moved to San Diego, California where he married Rita and had two children. He worked construction, then building gyros and high tech stuff. Retired early and got back into art. He wrote a couple of books and enjoyed life.
