Many other tables produced by Imperial Furniture have been found to be quite valuable. Manufactured by Imperial Table Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bottom of table is stamped Imperial. F. Stuart Foote founded The Imperial Furniture Company in 1903 and was President of the company for 50 years. Imperial's primary product was tables and Foote laid claim to inventing the "coffee table". The company worked mostly in mahogany and some pieces that were cherry. Imperial was the first company to concentrate large-scale efforts on occasional furniture. Through most of its history, Imperial's trademark was a triangular shield with a crown on top. On the shield is written "Imperial, Grand Rapids, Michigan". The crown and the lettering vary only slightly by date. The company was sold in 1954 after F. Stuart Foote passed away. This is a heavyweight Mahogany table with a top table and full lower shelf. Length of sides are 30 inches....Height of table is 24 inches. The table is in solid, good condition with normal wear on the top and shelf and is in good condition for a table that is clearly at least 80 years old. We believe that this table is from the 1940's....it certainly could have been produced well before that. Based on our research, we believe the stated price to be fair and accurate for the provenance, rarity, age and condition of this item.
