Vintage Drexel Weatherwood Collection Campaign Style End Table Cabinet or Chest
Wonderful vintage Drexel Weatherwood Collection Campaign style end table, cabinet, or chest with one drawer, 2 doors with brass plated hardware, and square leather-look laminate top insert. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. One bottom corner has a darkened area on the finish that could possibly be a water stain, but it is hard to tell with the “weatherwood” rather distressed original finish. What a FABULOUS end table, chest, or cabinet from the Weatherwood Collection by Drexel we have to offer to you!!! It is comprised of a square frame covered in a gorgeous wood veneer with a unique rather distressed finish almost like you can see faux saw marks in the grain. It has a single drawer and two front doors that feature an interesting, stacked pattern and brass plated escutcheons with a keyhole design. The tabletop is square with a Formica or laminate insert consisting of blended colors of dark brown with black low lights that gives an appearance of leather. It’s STUNNING!! It will be fabulous as an end table in your entry way below a gorgeous piece of art or between two wonderful lounge chairs in your sitting room hosting a table lamp. It would be great as a cabinet in your bedroom or as a chest in the study or home office. Its lovely Campaign Style will blend in beautifully with many styles of décor and it’s from a popular line by an iconic manufacturer, so you know it’s a classic, timeless, high-quality piece. Drexel Furniture Company was founded in 1903 in Drexel, North Carolina by six businessmen for a total investment of $14,000.00. Sam Huffman, one of the initial founders, managed the enterprise until his death in 1935 when his son, Robert O. Huffman took the helm. By 1950 under the younger Huffman’s leadership Drexel had grown from a small factory to a leader in furniture manufacturing. They acquired other furniture companies along the way and by the late 1950s employed 2300 workers. The 1960s had them adding industrial and hospitality furniture to their lines. In 1968 they were purchased, and Drexel Enterprises became Drexel Heritage Furnishings, Inc. They continued to add to their styles and lines and were sold again and then in 1986 became part of Masco Corporation one of the country’s largest furniture manufacturers. Drexel closed its doors in 2020. Call it an end table, call it a chest, or call it a cabinet… but whatever you call this wonderful piece by Drexel, call it yours!!
